The transparencies collection

In present transparencies collection, I gathered most of my presentations of the past five years. Of course, the themes I studied during this period (connectivity, interpolation, colour) are presented, together with more general lectures.

1996 In October, the Centre of Mathematical Morphology set a workshop about probabilities for Prof. G. Matheron's jubilee; I contributed [ref. d-10/97/mm] with a study about the class of equi-continuous random functions, which presents all necessary continuity qualities to make it the best functionnal model for morphology on numerical functions <jubil_gm.pdf 121 Ko>

1997 Let us mention first a presentation regarding the geographical implementation of the Centre of Mathematical Morphology, and its organization <cmm_1997.pdf 116 Ko>

My three pricipal scientific presentations during this year were about :

  • the morphological processing of time dimension, in Sao José dos Campos (Brazil) in February <saojose.pdf 395 Ko>
  • the comparison between various tri-dimensional grids in image processing <capri.pdf 258 Ko>
  • and finally, the various aspects of industrial control presented at the Q-Mat 1997 in Varsaw <qmat_1997.pdf 335 Ko>;. The corresponding French version was the subject of a paper presented at the Board of Directors of the Ecole des Mines de Paris, in June <ctrlind.pdf 323 Ko>
1998 Regarding my own studies, one can select the following two papers:
  • first, an invited conference about morphological connectivity, applied to numerical functions [ref. n-25/99/MM], organised at the European Congress of Stereology held in Amsterdam in April <iss_amsterdam_1998.pdf 718 Ko>, the corresponding French version had previously been presented at the ISS in Paris in February <journee_iss_1998.pdf 376 Ko>.
  • The second study was presented at the 4th Congress of the International Society of Mathematical Morphology, which took place in June, in Amsterdam. It deals with the search for geodesics in Hausdorff metric spaces, with a direct application to set interpolation <hausdorf.pdf 97 Ko>.
1999 A general presentation was given in French, at the Ecole des Mines de Douai, during a meeting day between the various "Ecoles des Mines" of France <douai.pdf 1409 Ko>. It concerns an overall introduction to the main problems and methods in Image Processing.In addition, we can select the following three scientific presentations :

  • First, an invited conference at the International Society of Discrete Geometry, at the Cité Descartes (Marne la vallée), during the DGCI '99 <dgci99.pdf 663 Ko>. The presentation deals with some elements about set connections, and complete them with new results about levelling based filtering (binary and numerical).
  • Second, a French study about multi-dimensional Images <journee_iss_1999.pdf 303 Ko>; a more developed English translation <qmat_2000.pdf> appeared the following year.
  • And finally, a presentation with A. Hanbury, that illustrates one of A. Albiol's ideas to make the representation of coloured images simpler <colour.pdf 4775 Ko>
2000 The general presentation of that year was given in Palo Alto, in June, the framework of an invited conference at the 5th Congress of the International Society of Mathematical Morphology. Co-signed by G. Matheron, it describes the first years of Mathematical Morphology, together with some comments about the birth of a new idea <birht_of_mm.pdf 1207 Ko>

I also add the transparencies of my invited conference at the International Conference of Pattern Recognition, held in Barcelona in September <ba2000.pdf>, where the heuristic use of models is discussed, with a careful attention paid on morphological operators on the unit circle.

One will find also, three series of studies about:

Moreover in <treillis_viqueux.pdf 269 Ko>, in French, and in its English translation <viscous_lattices.pdf 269 Ko> a new option to the traditional set morphology is presented, which advantage is to make the contours smoother (in watershed in particular). This study was presented at the "Frontiers of Mathematical Morphology" workshop, which took place in April 2000 at Strasbourg University.

Finally, we also included the study about the merging of multi-dimensional data, carried out in co-operation with M. Mlynarczuk, and presented at the European Conference of Quantitative Metallurgy, held in Krakow in September <qmat_2000.pdf>
